All we need are feet…

Today is such a sunny, gorgeous Saturday! I looked out of the window and thought that this would be an EXCELLENT day for rollerskating/blading/whatever is done with wheeled boots these days. Of course, I could not help but remember learning to rollerskate in the basement of my folks’ house after I got my first pair. I figured I’d get all of that embarrassing falling stuff out of the way BEFORE I went out in public. Every time I’ve gone skating since, I’ve been SOOO thankful for that basement, lol. Wherever you are, I hope you’re having a lovely weekend, too.

Donna Summer (1948-2012)

She worked hard for her money. Donna Summer was the first artist to to have three consecutive double albums reach number one on the US Billboard chart. She also charted four number one singles in the United States within a 13 month period and had a number one Billboard hit in five different decades. To say she was an amazing, trailblazing, singer and songwriter would not begin to pay adequate tribute to her talents.

The Mother’s Day gift that keeps on giving?

There has got to be a better way to deal with a disappointing Mother’s Day. According to Noel Biderman, who runs Ashley Madison (the site for married people who want to date), a lot of moms who don’t get that breakfast in bed or that brunch with the family or that jewelry gift  just sign up for a little something on the side. For all of the trouble and pain that affairs cause, I think I could just get myself a nice gift/do something nice for myself and keep it moving or call up my friendly neighborhood lawyer to make some relationship changes :)

Monday News: Light Slurpees.

Today was blazing hot, which I will not complain about, lest I open a window and see snow falling. Stranger things have happened :)

7 eleven has introduced its first nationally-distributed, low calorie slurpee. It is called the Slurpee Light Sugar-Free Mango and contains 20 calories per 8 ounces. Between the effort involved in making time to chase down the slurpee, making mental notes of the caloric content of the different sizes and researching the ingredients in the slurpee (I haven’t read an article yet which tells me what sweetens this beverage), I know someone is going to burn some calories consuming this product :) Slurpee Light Sugar-Free Strawberry-Banana will be available in July and Slurpee Light Sugar-Free Cherry Limeade (21 calories per 8 oz serving) will be available in August.
