Close to home.
I read about this girl. She is the top violinist in her school and instead of going to Julliard or Berklee, she’s working in the evenings at Sonic to pay rent on an apartment that she and her boyfriend, an unemployed dropout, share. She’s given up any hopes for a musical career because music doesn’t pay in her small hometown in Central Ohio. Her father is so dysfunctional that she can’t live with him and her mother is off in another town. This young lady has been blessed with such a gift, and yet she is choosing a dead end life because she’s too afraid to take a chance on something new. The thing that really rattles me, though, is that I wonder if I’m doing the same thing.
