It’s hard to believe that June is over already. I really enjoyed this past weekend with the family. We saw all kinds of neat stuff. It is never lost on me that I live in the kind of place where, if nothing else, you can get in the car for a few minutes (the fewer the better with these gas prices) and just enjoy nature. For free. Free is so good. I’m thankful for free.
I’m thankful that my family all over the country (and world) is still hanging in and moving forward.

We’re getting ready for Independence Day and usually it means hot dogs and other similar fare for me. This year it is going to be different, and I’m okay with that. Hubby’s birthday is day 22. I did not plan it like that, but I’m glad that the cleanse isn’t conflicting with any birthdays or anything. I’m really glad that the temperature is easing down. Saturday it was 100 degrees. We went from Juneuary to 100 degrees. I’ll be working on having more green veggies and maybe lentils and brown rice for dinner.
I had some roasted asparagus. It was really nice, drizzled in olive oil with vegetable protein italian sausage. I could have eaten the asparagus by itself, but I just put the sausage on the side just in case.

I’m thankful for the moments we shared today. I am thankful for all of the lessons I’ve learned and the grace I’ve been shown.

We went to the zoo this morning and it was wonderful. They have this special program where members can visit really early on designated days (which was just right this Saturday because it was HOT). We saw the new baby elephant and the other elephants, but I think the most wonderful moment was when we were walking through the African savanna exhibit. Little A saw a giraffe. She was totally amazed and excited. I thought the dinosaur exhibit would scare her and Max, but they were really cool. We left just as things were getting really warm.
We went to the beach and played in the sand and walked around and got wet. It was a great way to stay cool in the extreme heat. We have come to really enjoy a nice isolated spot on the beach, unfortunately I think everyone who knows about that spot showed up today. LOL.
The only food note I have for today is that lemon water is my new best friend. LOLOL.
